Lieutenant Joel Bolton is a 23-year veteran of the Lake Charles Police Department. Currently assigned as Executive Assistant to the Chief, he has previously worked in the Patrol and Detective Divisions, as director of the Department's nationally recognized traffic safety program, and as Accreditation Manager. During his career, he has completed a one-year assignment with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in Washington, DC, and was the first police officer to be certified by AAA as a child passenger safety technician-instructor.
Lt Bolton has served as a traffic safety consultant to the International Association of Chiefs of Police, written a monthly column for Police Chief magazine, provided technical assistance or training on safety issues for Ford, GM, Diamler-Chrysler, and BMW of North America. He co-authored the Operation Kids training program and was a member of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Security Team.
Lt. Bolton Passed away on March 18th while at home as he slept. It is not known if he had any life threatening illness's prior to his death. Doctors said he had a Heart Attack. He was 57 years of age. He will be missed by many friends, co-workers, and Police Officers from around the Globe.
