Jesse Delmar, Director of the Tribal Police, Navajo Division of Public Safety in Arizona sadly reports the death of Officer Leander Frank.
Navajo Nation Patrol Officer Leander Frank died in a head-on collision Tuesday, according to 12 News. He was dispatched to a call in the Tsaile area when the accident happened.
He was traveling that time on Route 64, between Tsaile and Chinle. Navajo Nation officials said that it appears like both vehicles tried to avoid each other on the highway but they still collided. Frank was killed instantly while everyone in the other vehicle survived.
The accident is being investigated by the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Officer Frank is the eleventh officer to have died in a vehicle crash in 2016 and the first tribal law enforcement fatality. Several tweets appeared condoling with the family of the officer. Navajo Nation Police.

He was born on April 1, 1975, in Gallup, N.M. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Chinle, Ariz. Interment will follow at the family cemetery in Pine Springs, Ariz.
