Carl Loker was an instructor assigned to the Harris County Sheriff's Department Academy from at least 1977 until 1999. I am not going to say much other than this man was a legend in the HCSO, a highly respected and dedicated man who it was my pleasure to know through the years. Ask anyone who was "Lokerized" in the Academy or otherwise came to know him.
Carl Loker was a retired USMC Sgt Major, a veteran of Korea (Chosin Resorvoir) and I Corps, Viet Nam, a real life character as Staff Sergeant Loker in James Webb's classic book on Viet Nam "A Rumor of War". He was quietly proud of his service and he spoke to me only once about his men in Nam, vet to vet, showing me a photo of them all together that was displayed in his office. The man really was larger than life and is missed by hundreds who became more than they believed they could due to his efforts... Rest in a well deserved peace, Corporal/Sgt Major.
Other Comments:
I would like additional data on Deputy Loker. I don't know the real dates of service for USMC or HCSO and had to guess just to get the program to work. Pictures will be added later and also would be appreciated if you have a good one.
