Patrolman O'Malley was shot and stabbed to death by a drunk man he had arrested. Patrolman O'Malley was able to return fire killing the suspect.

Patrolman Thomas O'Malley was killed on July 1, 1933, after a man he had arrested shot and stabbed him to death.

Patrolman O'Malley managed to shoot his murderer as he ran away, killing him.
