New Jersey State Police Officer shot to death at a Mountain View roadhouse in performance of duty

Trooper Ullrich was shot and killed while on an undercover assignment in Freehold. He and another trooper were assisting the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office conduct an investigation to gather evidence on several disorderly houses. While at a notorious roadhouse their identities became known by the proprietor and his assistant, who both opened fire on the troopers. Trooper Ullrich was killed and his partner was wounded. Trooper Ullrich had served with the agency for 2 years. He was survived by his wife.
